Privacy Policy
Expense Tracker is built so that there is very little for this policy to cover: your expense data lives in your own Google Drive, not on our servers.
What we store
Two things, and only while your account is active:
- Your Google account email address, used to identify you and to find your spreadsheet on each request.
- The identifier of the spreadsheet you chose, so the app knows where to write.
What we do not store
We do not keep a copy of your expenses. Every amount, place, note and date you enter is written directly into your spreadsheet and read back from it. If you delete that spreadsheet, the data is gone; we have no second copy to hand over or to lose.
We do not store your Google password, and we never see it. We do not store your Google access or refresh tokens on the server: the app sends a token with each request, it is used for that request, and it is discarded.
What the app asks Google for
openidandemail— to know who you are.drive.file— access limited to spreadsheets this app creates, or that you explicitly select in Google's file picker. It grants no access to the rest of your Drive, and Google, not this app, decides which files are covered.
Location
The app uses your location for one thing only: to keep place searches to the country you are in, so that typing a shop's name finds the one near you rather than one abroad. It is used only while you search for a place, never in the background, and only if location access is already allowed for the app — the app does not ask for it. Your phone turns its position into a country using Apple's location services; your coordinates are not sent to us or to Google. Only the two-letter country code (for example, SG) goes with your search. Without location access, the app uses the region set on your phone instead.
When you pick a place from the search results, that place's name, address and map coordinates are written into your spreadsheet as part of the expense. These describe the place, not where you were.
Sharing a spreadsheet
If you choose a spreadsheet that you share with someone else, then everyone with access to that spreadsheet can see everything in it, including expenses you add. That is ordinary Google Drive sharing, controlled by you from the spreadsheet itself.
Who else is involved
Google provides sign-in, Drive and Sheets, and hosts this service. Your use of those is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Place searches you type, with the country code described above, pass through this service to Google Places to fetch suggestions. We do not store them, though our server's request logs, kept by Google Cloud for up to 30 days, may include them.
Advertising and analytics
There are none. We do not track you, do not profile you, and do not sell or share your information with anyone.
Removing your data
- Revoke this app's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Its access to your spreadsheet ends immediately.
- Delete or keep the spreadsheet — it is yours either way.
- Email us at expense-tracker@hongminstudio.com to have your email address and spreadsheet identifier deleted from our records.
Children
This app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will appear on this page.
